Anna Marie Sass

Anna Marie Sass, 90 of Meadville, passed away on November 25, 2023 at home with her husband by her side. Anna Marie was born on July 21, 1933 in Meadville to the late George and Lena (Kröner) Leistner. She was a 1951 graduate of Meadville High School. She worked for Meadville Telephone Company, leaving to become "Mom" for her family. She continued being a nanny for many years for other families, including the family of Dr. Vic Farah, Jr.
Anna Marie was a member of the Emmanuel Community Church in Meadville, being very active in the church over the years. She loved sewing and working on puzzles and making ceramics in her earlier years. She was known as an excellent cook and enjoyed preserving the harvest from her husband's garden. She was a Poll Worker for local elections for many years, working at the Senior Center Polls. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with them. She will be remembered as a kind woman who always was willing to help others.
Anna Marie married her beloved husband, Erich P. Sass, on May 18, 1957, he survives at home. Also surviving are her children: Carol (John) Erie of Meadville; Susan (John) Gionti of Saegertown; and Paul Sass of Lakewood, NY, grandchildren: Thomas (Katie) Erie; Catrina Erie; Joshua (Ellie) Gionti; and Kayla (Trevor) Weingartner, and great-grandchildren: Taylor; Liam; Lincoln; and Aurora.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Irwin Leistner.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, INC. 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville. Visitation will take place from 4 pm – 7 pm on Wednesday, November 29. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, November 30, at 11 am with the Rev. Timothy Solomon, officiating.
Interment will follow in Greendale Cemetery.
