Anna Wells, age 90, of Waupun, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025.
Anna was born March 26, 1935 in Fox Lake, the daughter of Eli and Jennie DeVries Winkel. In 1956 Anna married Emmett Fisher until his passing, and later married Jack Wells. Anna met Jack on bus trips to various events. Throughout her career, Anna distinguished herself as a valued employee at Sand Knit in Waupun and later at Heritage Wafers in Ripon, from which she retired. However, her contributions extended far beyond her professional life. Anna was a tireless volunteer, dedicating many hours to the Waupun Food Pantry and the Waupun Hospital Gift Shop, where she brightened the days of patients and visitors alike. She also participated in the “Big Sisters” program, providing mentorship and support to younger individuals in her community. Her commitment to service exemplified her character and her belief in the importance of giving back. An active member of First Reformed Church in Waupun, Anna found strength and fellowship within her church community, deeply rooting her life in faith and connection with others. In addition to her professional and community endeavors, Anna embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. She had a passion for camping and traveling, often sharing these experiences with family and friends. She reveled in the thrill of bowling, challenged herself with puzzles, and created lovely memories while hosting casino bus trips alongside her dear husband Jack. Each of these activities reflected her vibrant spirit and her love for socializing.
Anna is survived by her children: Patti (Lori) Fisher, Judy (Mark) Roll, Ed (Ann) Fisher, and Garry (Karen) Fisher; step-children: Melody (Allan) Rougeux, Jeff (Tara) Wells, and William (Michelle) Wells; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sister; Josephine Mulder; and many nieces and nephews.
Anna was preceded in death by both husbands, Emmett and Jack; grandson, Jason Hull; her parents, Eli and Jennie; and siblings: Sam Winkel, and Jeannette Fisher.
