Branson West, Missouri

Annabelle Johnson, 92 years, 7 months, and 16 days old, passed away on January 2, 2026, at Cox Hospital in Branson, Missouri.

Annabelle was born on May 16, 1933, in Gainesville, Missouri, to Ernest and Lela (Shanks) Power. She moved with her family to Springfield, Missouri at a young age and graduated from Central High School.

On January 28, 1956, Annabelle married Earl Johnson in DeKalb, Illinois. In the early 1960s, the couple lived briefly in California before returning to Rochelle, Illinois. During the 1970s, they lived in Houston, Texas, and St. Louis, Missouri, before settling back in southwest Missouri in 1980. Annabelle and Earl spent their retirement years in Branson West, Missouri.

Throughout her life, Annabelle worked in a variety of roles, including factory work, retail, and real estate. In her later years, she especially enjoyed working in Branson as a public relations representative for a Branson developer.

Annabelle loved cooking and baking for family gatherings and holidays. Her chocolate pie was a long-time favorite among family and extended family. She and her husband also enjoyed spending evenings at the local DD Community Center, where they attended weekly gatherings featuring live music.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Johnson, Sr.; her sons, Erwin Johnson and Charles Johnson; and her sister, Gracie Lawrence.

Annabelle is survived by her sons, Earl Johnson, Jr. and wife Shari, and Steve Johnson and wife Suzanne; her grandchildren, Keri Thuestead, Amber Clark, Crystal Young, Luke Johnson, Julia Johnson, Levi Johnson, Amanda Johnson; Rob Johnson & Mike Johnson, and their mother Gretchen Hahn; ten great-grandchildren; extended family members; and many dear friends.

The family will hold a private gathering. Burial will take place at Ava Cemetery, where Annabelle will be laid to rest beside her husband, Earl, Sr. Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Ava, Missouri.
