Annabelle Toliver, 90, of Greenwood, IN, passed away on January 16, 2025. She was born on March 4, 1934 in Orange County, IN, to Herschel Brothers and Lydia (Hopper) Brothers.
She graduated as the valedictorian of her 1953 class at Orleans High School and always valued learning.
On September 26, 1953 she married Roger Jack Toliver in the rural Bethel Christian Church in Orleans, IN. They moved to the southside of Indianapolis in 1964 where they raised three children in their family home on West Epler. She was a homemaker, the heart of the home. She and Jack enjoyed over 60 years together until his passing in 2014.
Annabelle was a 4-H leader over ten years in Marion County. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers, quilting, crocheting, sewing, baking, and catching a good garage sale on her neighborhood walks. She also enjoyed doll collecting and rescuing dolls. Genealogy was one of her passions, and she published several books of family history.
She was a member of Southport Heights Christian Church.
She is survived by her children Margaret (William) Gebhart, Kokomo; Brenda (Mark) Wirey, Greenwood; Alan (Barbara) Toliver, Plainfield; grandchildren Heather Gebhart Leavitt (Rob), Kokomo; Stuart Toliver, Camby; Michelle Toliver, Boston, MA; Anne Toliver-Pratt (Glenn), Indianapolis; Grant Toliver, Miami, FL; Benjamin Wirey, Indianapolis; and Michael Wirey (Magy McKary), Morgantown, WV. Great grandchildren include Megan and Madison Leavitt, Emery Toliver, Elsie Pratt, and Matthew and Anna Wirey. Also left behind are sisters Helen Johnson of Orlando, FL and Judy Byers of Cincinnati, OH.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Jack Toliver, her parents, and by her brother, Earl Brothers.
Friends may visit from 11:00 am until the service time at 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at G.H. Herrmann Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, Indiana. She will be laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Greenwood, IN.
Memorial contributions may be made to Orleans Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, c/o Christi Morgan, 5422 W. Co. Rd. 725 N. Orleans, IN 47452.
