Anne Dolan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Clawson on Jan. 18, 2024.
Anne Shirley (Burns) Dolan of Royal Oak, MI, died unexpectedly on January 16, 2024, at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, who passed away 9 years ago at the age of 74. Anne and Jim were married on June 23, 1962, and enjoyed 52 years of married life. They raised five children together. Their boundless love and devotion to family remains an inspiration to all who knew them.
Anne was born on July 7, 1938. She grew up in Detroit and attended Visitation High School where she met her husband, Jim. She was the oldest of four children born to Bill Burns, Sr. and Norah (Burke) Burns. She is survived by her sister Maureen Osiecki, and her brothers, Bill II (Joan) and Patrick (Joan). Anne took pride in being a Detroiter and in her Irish heritage. As her mother said, Anne had a "good Irish tongue" and never failed to make friends and learn life stories from whoever she met. Even at the end she was charming hospital staff with stories and kind words.
Anne is survived by her five children and seven grandchildren: Jim Jr; Bill, his wife Melanie and their two children Jake (Alyssa) and Morgan; Dennis, his wife Penny, and their three children, Erin (Joe), Molly and Maggie; daughter Maureen, her husband Scott, and their two children, Bella and Mia; and her daughter Katy and Katy's partner Andy.
Anne is best described as brave, smart and strong. She practiced kindness and unconditional love. She, like her husband, was never happier than when spending time with family and was known to enjoy a glass or two of champagne at celebrations and gatherings. Anne was at peace at the end.
Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks, Clawson, on Friday, January 26 from 1-7pm. A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 27 at 10am.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to World Vision or The Sjogrens Foundation.
