Anne Hallquist Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by St. John's Family Funeral Home & Crematory on Jan. 19, 2026.
Anne Hallquist, 90, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away on January 17, 2026, at the Bailey Family Center for Caring, surrounded by her family.

Anne was born in Ashepoo, South Carolina, and grew up in the Southeast, living in Alabama, southern Georgia and Florida. She married George Hallquist on January 10, 1959, at the Cathedral Basilica in St. Augustine. The couple raised their family in St. Augustine.

Anne began her banking career as a teller at St. Augustine National Bank (now Bank of America). Over the years she advanced to bookkeeping manager and ultimately served as Vice President of Operations. She retired in 1990 after many years.

A dedicated gardener, Anne took great pride in her beautiful yard. She was also a talented baker who loved to feed everyone - family, neighbors, doctors and friends alike - and was known for hosting large Sunday dinners. Anne enjoyed reading, quilting and crocheting, and she cherished time spent with her grandchildren. Everyone who knew her called her Mammaw.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Grenier, Susan Furlong (Dale) and Mary Kobryn (David); grandchildren, Lisa Hersey, Michelle Cox, Teresa Blake (David), Sarah Bradley (Paul), Brian Kobryn (Jessica), Daniel Kobryn (Ashley) and Kyle Hallquist, 9 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, George Hallquist and her son, Chris Hallquist.

Funeral service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at St. Johns Family Funeral Home with burial to follow at San Lorenzo Cemetery. Visitation will precede the service from 1-2pm. In lieu of flowers donate to community Hospice St Augustine or plant a tree

I had my first grown up job in 1968 at St. Augustine National Bank. My boss was Anne. I was 18 and I was in awe of this amazing lady! I thought she knew everything about everything! I had to start working on this big machine. It was a bookkeeping machine. OMGEE! I didn't know there were machines that big except a car. Thanks to wonder woman Anne, she had me running it in no time. She was a very special lady. She will be missed by all of family and friends.
Love and prayers,
