Anne Maura McAloon, age 63 of Alexandria, VA passed away unexpectedly at home. She was the beloved daughter of the late George P. McAloon and Mary Rose Scanlon McAloon. 

Anne graduated as Salutatorian of the class of 1979 from Alexandria Central School. In addition to her academic achievements, she earned a varsity letter in soccer. Anne graduated from Goucher College in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. She later earned her Master’s in Economics from George Mason University.

Upon graduation from college, Anne relocated to the Washington, D.C area to begin a career with the federal government. She worked in OCEA, the Federal Maritime Commission and completed her thirty-five-year career at the Office of Account Acquisitions under the auspices of the Federal Maritime Commission.

Anne was an active member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society and served as a Covenants director for the Belle View Condominium Association. In retirement, she became a fan of improv comedy and began participating in local improv groups and workshops in the Alexandria area. 

Aunt Annie, as she was known to her nieces and nephews, was a proud supporter of their extracurricular activities and followed them closely through the live streaming of their events and in person whenever possible. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her aunts and uncles; James and Constance McAloon, Margaret and Thomas Leach, George and Kate Peacock, Daniel Scanlon and John and Betty Scanlon.

Anne is survived by her siblings, Daniel and Lisa McAloon, George and Barbara McAloon, James and Cortney McAloon, Mary Rose McAloon and Robert and Rebecca McAloon, and her 2 nieces and 10 nephews.

Funeral arrangements are with Costello Funeral Home in Alexandria Bay. Calling hours will 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. on Monday March 10th and a funeral mass at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church at 11 A.M. on Tuesday March 11th. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local chapter of the St. Vincent De Paul Society.
