Annell B. Winbery Annell B. Winbery, 93, of Christiansburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2023 with her son and daughter-in-law at her side, at their home in Dunnellon, Florida.

Annell is survived by her son, Mark Winbery, his wife Margie, and a grandson. She is also survived by her brother and his wife, as well as her nephew, two nieces, and two great-nephews.

Annell was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Christiansburg. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed Book Club, meeting friends for weekly Coffee, volunteering at the Montgomery County Museum, and many hobbies. She was famous for her home-baked cookies.

The family wishes to thank all of Annell's friends who faithfully have been sending cards, letters, and communications from her church, since she moved to Assisted Living. Annell always enjoyed hearing from all of you, and remembered you all fondly.

Several years ago, Annell wrote the following:

"A Fitting Obituary"

"Annell Winbery, having lived well past her expiration date, shuffled off this mortal coil on May 9, 2023. She did not go gently into this good night, but fought death long and hard. Unfortunately death held the advantage of the scythe.

"Annell was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, after 53 years of marriage.

"Annell had been a public school teacher for 37 years and as far as she knew, most of her students went on to live useful lives.

"She is survived by her son Mark Winbery and others as noted above, who will at their convenience, choose a time and place for a memorial service.

"I was Annell Winbery and I approve this message (having written it myself)."

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Christiansburg Public Library or Montgomery County Museum in Annell's honor.
