John was an asset to EGSA and a true southern gentleman. I was fortunate to see him again during our association's 50th anniversary in 2015. It was a pleasure to reconnect with an EGSA past president who was so passionate about our organization. My sincerest condolences to Carolyn and family.

I met John in the early 1990's; I was a rookie salesman with ASCO and didn't know anything about switchgear. ASCO hired John as a Consultant to help the sales force with Switchgear. John came to Detroit and we formed a great relationship right away and sold millions of dollars of equipment together. John was professional, smart and determined. My favorite memory of John was his southern manners and always the consummate gentlemen. John taught me switchgear and more importantly he showed me how to be a better person. John was a good friend and he will be missed. The knowledge and friendship John shared with me helped shape who I am today.

I had the distinct pleasure of interviewing John Winberry for EGSA's 50th anniversary. I learned what a great contributor and leader he was in the on-site power community, but most of all, what an inspiring and fun man he was! He was unforgettable! My sincere condolences to Carolyn and the rest of his family.
