Emily Winbery Obituary
Emily Ann Russell Winbery,80, passed from this life on Monday September 25, 2023, at the Haven Nursing Home in Columbia, Louisiana. Emily had been a resident at The Haven since 2015. A private family graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 28 at 2:00 PM at the New Union Cemetery
Emily was born on January 23 rd, 1943, in Columbia to parents Lee Champ Russell and Pauline Ann Moss Russell. She graduated from La Salle High School and the University of Louisiana at Monroe (then known as Northeast Louisiana University) with a teaching degree. Emily taught for twenty years at Olla-Standard Elementary School. After her retirement from teaching, Emily was licensed as a pastor of the United Methodist Church and led congregations in Marksville and Chatham until health issues forced her to retire. Emily is preceded in death by her husband of fifty four years, Odell Winbery.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
