Annette MacEwen Obituary
Annette MacEwen
March 6, 1939 - December 4, 2024
Annette Guerry MacEwen, 85, passed away on December 4, 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia. Born on March 6, 1939, in Charleston, South Carolina, Annette's life was filled with love, music, and a passion for cultivating beauty in the world around her.
Annette's story began in Charleston, where she met David MacEwen, a cadet at The Citadel. Their journey together began in 1956 when they married in Charleston and moved to Clemson, South Carolina, where David pursued graduate studies. Annette, ever supportive, earned her "PhT" (Putting Hubby Through) while he completed his degree. They eventually settled in Auburn, Alabama, where they raised their four children.
A woman of many talents, Annette was an accomplished pianist whose music filled their home. Her love for nature blossomed in her avid gardening, a passion she shared with others as a long-time member of the Garden Club in Auburn. Annette was also a devoted member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Women's Guild, where she found community and purpose. In retirement, Annette and David moved back to South Carolina and divided their time between Greenville and Kiawah Island.
In her later years, Annette moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to be closer to her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, David Adair MacEwen Sr., and her son, David Adair MacEwen Jr. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her surviving children: son Mark MacEwen, daughters Courtney Tilinski (husband Randy) and Michelle Toole (husband Andrew); her siblings: Jack Guerry, Dorothy Infinger, Mary Lee Brooks, and Betty Lou Gresham; and her cherished grandchildren: Sarah, William, Lexi, Camryn, Charlie, and Sam.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
