Annie Faye Silence Avery passed peacefully into the presence of God on January 4 th, 2026. She was sure of her salvation in Jesus and eagerly confident she would spend eternity with her Lord when she breathed out her last breath on this earth. She is a wonderful Mother who will be remembered as someone who was graciously generous in life, strong in character, and filled with a robust sense of humor that she passed along to her children and grandchildren. She loved all children and spent many years serving as a teacher's aide at Summersill Elementary School before retiring. Annie was a faithful wife of 54 years caring for her husband Cecil until his death in May of 2025.
Annie was born in Haws Run to Ivy Dick Silence and Clara Mae Silence, who preceded her in death early in her life. She is a graduate of Dixon High School and enjoyed writing and the beach. She is survived by her son Cecil Eric Avery, wife Donna, and their 3 daughters, Anna Kate Core, husband Callan, daughter,( Annie's first great-grandchild) Alexandria Mae Core, Laney Claire, and Bailey Ann. Her daughter Carrie Lorene Pollock, Husband Eddie, and their daughter Brooke. Her son James Bailey Avery, wife Katelyn, and their daughter Hazel Ann and son Silas James.
Annie is survived by her brother Delwood Silence, whom she helped to raise, wife Sandra, and their daughters, whom she saw as Grandchildren, Mindy Cunningham, husband Travis, and sons Nathan and William, and Rachael Collins, husband Heath, and their son Levi. Two brothers, Benny (Wilma) and Alton (Stephanie) , and her sister, Flora Mae Fisher. She was blessed with many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home, 2685 Henderson Dr,
Jacksonville, NC 28546 on Thursday, January 8 th from 6-8pm. Funeral will be held at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Friday, January 9 th at Noon with her son Army Chaplain Major Cecil Eric Avery and Pastor Damon Williamson officiating. Graveside service will follow at Onslow Memorial Park, Jacksonville.
