Beth Anne Avery

Winterville – Beth Anne Turnage Avery, 69, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2026, at MacGregor Downs Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Ms. Avery was born in Wilson County, NC on December 30, 1956, to the late William Bailey and Mary Turnage. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Gateway Christian Center in Winterville and learned sign language so she could sign during church services. Her unwavering faith in God was the foundation of her life's work. One of her biggest accomplishments was being able to travel to The Dominican Republic and participate in missionary work. Her biggest attributes were being kind and tenderhearted toward others.

She is survived by her son, William Herring Avery of the home; sisters, Terry Edwards of Grimesland and Donna Stancill (Milando) of Winterville; brother, Bill Turnage of Pink Hill; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted Friday, February 20, at 11am in the Smith Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by Rev. Bradford Linton and eulogy given by Sis. Linda McDonald. Burial will follow in the Edwards Family Cemetery in Grimesland. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
