Annie Sherrod Quimberly, age 81, entered into eternal rest on August 13, 2025. Born April 21, 1944, in Stokes, North Carolina, she was the beloved daughter of the late Carrie Lee Council and Fred Andrews. Annie built a long and accomplished career at Emerson Radio, where she worked faithfully for 35 years. Following her retirement, she went on to achieve the remarkable honor of serving as a union president for 15 years before retiring fully. Those who knew Annie will remember her as a strong woman with a heart full of kindness. She was a friend to everyone, level-headed, wise, and full of common sense. She valued honesty, loyalty, integrity, hard work, and above all, her faith in trusting God-qualities she lived by and passed down to her family. To her children, she was "the type of mother that never left our side, stressed intolerance of having patience, and conducting our business so we don't have to be without." Every conversation with their mother would turn into a lesson of wisdom that they will carry in their hearts and live by forever. Her memory will forever be cherished by her children, grandchildren, stepchildren, extended family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. She was the last surviving of her seven siblings, Fred, Earl, Ben, Jim, Dorothy, and Velma who all preceded her in death. Annie was also preceded in death by her husbands, Lewis Quimberly and Clarence Sherrod; her beloved daughter, Shonta Sherrod. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Donald Andrews (Patty) – Charlotte, NC, James Sherrod (Antoinette) – Brooklyn, NY, Jacqueline Sherrod (Darryl "G") – Charlotte, NC, Denise Sherrod Tidwell (Eugene) – Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, James, Elijah, Drew, Sean, Tony, Khalil, Timothy, Trevas, Chevon, Shaquera, Aaliyah, Aniylah, Kaliyah, Nature, Journey, and a host of bonus grandchildren. She is also survived by her stepchildren from her union with Lewis Quimberly, along with their spouses, and a host of extended family. In addition to raising her own children, Annie lovingly took in McKella Jordan as her own, embracing her with the same love, care, and devotion she gave to all her family. McKella and her kids Saquan, Malika & Shatima held a special place in her heart, and their bond was a true testament to Annie's nurturing spirit. Annie will also be remembered fondly for the love she had for her cat, "Yo" Annie Sherrod Quimberly's life was a living testimony of faith, perseverance, and love. From the quiet strength she carried through hardship, to the steady wisdom she passed on to her children and grandchildren, Annie's legacy is deeply rooted in the lives she touched. She was the kind of woman whose presence made people feel safe, seen, and supported - whether she was offering advice, sharing a story, or simply sitting beside you in silence. Her laughter, her faith, and her unshakable sense of purpose will be remembered as the foundation of her family's strength. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on - in every act of kindness, every moment of resilience, and every voice that says, "Trust God. God's got this." We honor her. We remember her. And we carry her with us - always.
