MOULTRIE, GA – Annie Montine Rogers Hembree, 89, of Doerun, Georgia, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Legacy Village at Park Regency.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 22, 2024, at Liberty Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Danny Smith and Reverend Dr. David Benton officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Hill Church Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 1:00-1:45 PM Friday, November 22, 2024, at Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
Born July 29, 1935, in Albany, Georgia, Montine was the daughter of the late Dewey Royal Rogers and Julia Fowler Rogers. Montine worked as the Food Service Manager for Doerun Elementary School for over 20 years.
Montine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a natural caretaker to the thousands of schoolchildren she served throughout the years.
Her greatest joy came from giving back to her community, which included her famous peanut brittle that she gifted to friends and family every Christmas season. Her home was always open for gatherings around the kitchen table, where family would spend time sharing stories, memories, and meals.
In her later years, she found joy in simple pleasures, like sitting outside and waving to her neighbors as they drove by.
She was known as “Miss Rogers” by her beloved husband, Mama to her three children, Grandmother to her three grandchildren, and a cherished friend to many.
The memory of her steadfast love, resilience, and strong spirit will remain in our hearts forever. She will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard F. “June” Hembree, Jr.; her son, David Dewayne Hembree and her daughter Janice Elaine Hembree Sutton.
Survivors include her daughter, Amy Hembree of Tallahassee, Florida; grandchildren, Benjamin Sutton of Dalton, Georgia, Jared and Cynthia Jaskolski of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Jennifer Jaskolski of Tallahassee, Florida.
