Anthony Bowser Obituary

BOWSER

ANTHONY W. BOWSER SR.

Anthony W. Bowser, Sr. "Tony" was the youngest child of the late Emily Wade and Leroy Joseph Bowser. Tony passed away April 5, 2023. Born and raised in Washington, DC, Tony graduated from Dunbar High School. He enlisted in the Marines right after high school. While deployed in Da Nang, South Vietnam, he suffered near fatal injuries in a skirmish, which earned him three Purple Hearts and left him permanently disabled at age 22. Becoming a member of Pythagoras Lodge No. 9, he found another brotherhood to which he could devote his life. He attained his 33rd degree and was most recently honored as Emeritus Grand Marshall. After 25 years of employment, Tony retired from the DC Public School System. He loved fishing, traveling, and watching all of the DC sports teams - most specifically the Commanders. Upon transition, his parents and six of his siblings were there to welcome him. He is survived by his three children and two siblings. He is "Pop Pop" to six grandchildren and several bonus grandchildren, "Uncle Tony" to a host of nieces and nephews, and cherished by other extended family and friends. Services will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2023, 6 to 8 p.m. at Pope Funeral Home, 5538 Marlboro Pike, District Heights, MD 20747.
