In the early 1970's, they moved to Garden City, KS where Dean began his career at WW Feeders, which later became Gigot Feeders. Dean was with Gigot Feeders until the early 1980's. Dean and Mazie moved to Iola, Kansas in 2019 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. In retirement Dean enjoyed wood working in his shop behind his house. He spent countless hours building everything from custom furniture, elaborate frames, wooden ornate specialty items, and various other novelties for his family and friends all the while loving every minute of it.
