MASSENA – Anthony "Chuck" Bronchetti, 96, of Claremont Ave, peacefully passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Chuck was born January 25, 1929 in Massena, the son of the late Anthony and Jennie (Spadafore) Bronchetti. He attended Massena Central Schools graduating in 1946 and continued his education at Potsdam State and Clarkson Universities. He was drafted into the US Army during the Korean Conflict and served until his honorable discharge. On August 22, 1959, he married Ann Henophy at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Cotter, officiating. Ann predeceased him on August 7, 2019.
Chuck taught Social Studies at the Massena Central Junior High School for over 30 years. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church, member of the Italian-American Club and former member of the Massena Elks Lodge. Chuck took great pride in maintaining his home and lawns. He followed all sports, especially the NY Yankees and NY Giants, as well as his grandchildren's sporting events. Additionally, Chuck was very proud that he was able to remain independent in his "senior years."
Chuck is survived by his children, Tina and John Phillips of Massena, Tony Bronchetti of Syracuse, Tom and Annie Bronchetti of Slingerlands, and Steven and Wendy Bronchetti of Brooklyn; and his grandchildren, Sophia, Natalie, Mark, David, Jocelyn, and Adriana.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Paul Bronchetti on December 11, 2023.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena where friends may call on Wednesday starting at 10:00 AM until the time of the services at 11:00 AM with Rev. Mark Reilly, officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Calvary Cemetery, Massena.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to a charity of one's choice.
