Massena: James Anthony Bronchetti, age 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. Born on December 19, 1940, James lived a life marked by strength, integrity, and deep devotion to those he loved.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Jean Romeo Bronchetti; his two sons, Chris Bronchetti of Jamesville, New York, and Tom Bronchetti (Michele) of Auburn Hills, Michigan; his cherished grandchildren, Sara, Jake, and Alexandra; and his adored great-grandson, "Little Boy" Miloh.
James is also survived by four siblings: Rosemary Serabian, Shirley Venier, Daniel Bronchetti, and Josephine Lecuyer. He was predeceased by four siblings: Michael Bronchetti, Joseph Bronchetti, Eugene Bronchetti, and Theresa Johnson.
James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, known for his kindness, commitment and the large presence he brought to every room. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy before spending over 30 years working for General Motors in Massena, New York, and Bedford, Indiana.
James also made a family through his unwavering commitment to the Italian American Civic Association in Massena. He served as president and was involved in every aspect of the club-from opening the doors each morning for coffee to working in the kitchen for dinners. His dedication helped shape the club into a welcoming home for generations of members.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, James was obsessed with Syracuse University athletics and was a loyal fan of the New York Yankees. Whether cheering from the stands or from his favorite chair at home, he felt the joy and pain in every game. He was also an avid golfer who relished time with friends and family on the fairways and greens, and he lived life to the fullest-always on his own terms.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 11, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Phillips Memorial Home, 64 Andrews Street, Massena, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at St. Mary's Church, 105 Cornell Avenue, Massena, NY. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice in James's name.
