Obituary of Anthony G. Burlew
Anthony "Butch" Burlew, 82, of Howell Township passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025. He was born in South Amboy and was raised in the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen Township. He served in the army in the Vietnam War. He moved to Howell Township in 1978. A hardworking man with an unwavering work ethic, he spent his career as a proud member of The International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Local 8, in Howell. After decades of being a tradesman, he served as Business Agent, to then retire in 2002.
Butch found his greatest joys in being outdoors and tending to his gardens and property. He took great pride in tending to the plants and gardens, nurturing each plant from seed to sprout, ensuring everything was done just right throughout the seasons. His hands built more than just structures; they built a life filled with purpose and hard work. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he shared, and the memories cherished by those who knew and loved him.
Butch was predeceased by his son, Anthony Burlew. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Arlene; daughter, Nicole Cavallero and her husband, Mike of Howell; four grandchildren, A.J., Dominic, Nick, and Julia; and a brother, James Burlew and his wife, Jean and their family of Cliffwood.
