Anthony Cariello Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peabody Funeral Home - Londonderry on Dec. 11, 2025.
Anthony Joseph Cariello of Londonderry, New Hampshire passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 14th, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Frank and Consiglia Cariello. Anthony had five older sisters. He often described a childhood rich with love, laughter, and mischief.

Anthony proudly served his country as a mechanic and a sergeant in the US Army, eventually continuing his commitment in the US Army Reserves and the New York National Guard. He also worked in the envelope manufacturing business as a lead cutter and foreman, before joining the New York City Department of Sanitation.

A sentimental man, Anthony fondly remembered the moment he set eyes on his lovely wife Adua. He was twenty-one, and instantly captivated. The two later married and had six children. Family was the cornerstone of their life together.

Known for his infectious laugh and blue eyes, Anthony took great pride in his Italian heritage. Whether in the kitchen baking biscotti, crushing grapes for his homemade wine, or building birdhouses in his workshop, he was happiest when making things for others to enjoy. He took great delight in every one of his children, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his four sons, Frank Cariello and wife Carolyn, Vincent Cariello and wife Barbara, Anthony Cariello and wife Lisa, and Joseph Cariello and wife Carrie; his two daughters, Elaine McSpedon and husband Jack, and AnnMarie Cariello and husband Jim; 20 grandchildren: Anthony, Jenny, Chrissy, Will, Michael, Anna, Megan, John, Claire, Emily, Bobby, Michael, Owen, Anthony, Joseph, Joey, Jack, Charlie, Rose, and Henry; and five great-grandchildren, Hayden, Brooke, Caroline, Sophia, and Olivia; one sister, Yolanda, as well as nieces, nephews, and a large extended family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Adua (Castellano) Cariello in 2022 and four sisters, Grace, Jenny, Anna and Angie.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 3:00 – 6:00 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 16th at 10:00 am in St. Jude’s Parish, 435 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Gilcreast Road, Londonderry. Memorial contributions may be made to Knights of Columbus.
