Anthony J. DeFusco, age 97 a long time resident of Warwick RI, passed away peacefully after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family on Thursday September 12, 2024. He was the devoted husband of the late Gwendolyn E. (Fraser) DeFusco. They were married for 59 years.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Anthony and Teresa (Ricci) DeFusco. Anthony was employed at Narraganset Electric for 42 years before retiring in 1992.
He was a long-time parishioner of St. Benedicts Church. An avid sportsman, Anthony skied, golfed, and played tennis well into his senior years. He also loved spending time with his family at his second home which he proudly built himself in NH.
Anthony is survived by two daughters, Donna M. DeFusco of Jamestown, and Marcia A. Healey and her husband Ray of Mansfield MA; a son Anthony C. DeFusco and his wife Jean of Cranston; and six grandchildren Michael, Lauren, Lindsay, Mark, Kayla, and Benjamin. Anthony was also the father of the late Paula J. Habershaw. He was the brother of the late Gloria Oliver, Thelma Zompa, and his twin William DeFusco.
The DeFusco family would like to thank Halycon at West Bay and Atria Harbor Hill for many years that Anthony was part of their community.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 9:30a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Kevin's Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4p.m.- 7p.m. Burial will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick.
Because he was an ardent Boston Red Sox fan, in lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to The Jimmy Fund, Boston, MA.
