Obituary For Anthony DiLuzio

It is with great love and sorrow we mourn the passing of Anthony DiLuzio on Sept.24,2025 at the age of 96. With his son Donnie at his bedside he was called home to our dear Lord Jesus Christ.

Anthony was born on August 20,1929 in Boston, Ma to Mary and Donato. Soon after the Great Depression of 1929 , the family moved to Elizabeth Street in the Little Italy section of NYC.

Anthony was the older brother , aka Sonny to his sister Celeste(Presto).

Anthony serves as Private in the U.S. Army as well as truck driver and transporter of personnel from 1948-1950.

Upon discharge and returning to Little Italy , the one and only love of his life, Angelina (Bonnano) a neighborhood beauty, kept him happy and later married in June 1956. His "Cookie " was his loving wife for 50 years before her passing in 2006.

After marriage , the loving couple moved to Brooklyn where they became the proud and devoted parents to their two wonderful sons Donato and Louis.

For a better life, they moved in 1964 over the brand new Verrazano bridge to Dongan Hills , Staten Island, which at the time was like the country. It was their forever home and remains home.

The Diluzio's front door was always open for so many family members and friends for a traditional homemade Italian feast. Anthony as of recent was referred to as the mayor of S. Railroad avenue , being the only original homeowner of the block.

He was an extremely hardworking dedicated worker to his numerous years in construction jobs and later to the NYC MTA as track welder and walker.

Being married to Angie was a blessing to him, and losing his "cookie" was the hardest part of his life, Sons Donnie and Louis kept him busy with the house , sports, travels to AC, Florida , NJ and Las Vegas

Where he enjoyed fun with family and friends and slot machines.

The love and devotion to his Church, his a blessed Mother Mary and praying the Rosary kept Anthony strong. He prayed for everyone especially his son Louis before his death in 2021.

Anthony was a loving and devoted father to Donato and his wife Maryann, Louis and his wife Christina along with being a fun papa to grandson AJ. He is now reunited with his baby grandson William.

He is survived by his four nieces and nephews , great nieces and nephews and his buddy Cinnamon cat, whom misses him already.

Anthony found great pleasure in listening to his Beach Boys music, big band swing tunes and 1950s oldies. You would find him daily watching his favorite TV game shows, and the Mets , Rangers and Jets. He prayed a lot for those teams too. Hobbies of recent with help from Donnie included ceramic painting and jigsaw puzzles while

Always asking for his favorite candy treats of Cheetos, Snickers , pretzels and cannolis.

Rest in eternal peace our dear Tony .

You are so loved and missed.
