Harriet Jean DiLuzio, age 79, of
Acton, MA passed away on December 6, 2025, surrounded by friends and family at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, MA. She died from injuries caused by a tragic accident that occurred on December 3, 2025.
Harriet was born in
Springfield, Massachusetts on August 19, 1946, to Louis "Jack" and Ruth Golden (Broad) and grew up in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. She studied painting at Boston University School of Fine Arts and later completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Human Services at Lesley College in 1994.
She was married to Anthony W. DiLuzio from 1974 to 1989 where they resided in
Littleton, MA for many years and raised their three daughters. She worked as a Case Worker from 1976 to 1981 at the Department of Public Welfare. She also worked at Minuteman Arc for Human Services as a Case Manager and Day Habilitation Specialist from 1995 to 2014. In addition to being a breast cancer survivor, she dedicated her professional life to supporting and serving those with economic and intellectual challenges.
Harriet was a talented and prolific artist who created drawings, paintings, and custom paper mâché animal boxes. She was inspired by the beauty and animal life she observed in Acton and Gloucester and through her travels throughout New England, California, Europe, and Africa.
Harriet achieved her dream to have her own studio space at ArtSpace Maynard, where she frequently created, exhibited, and sold her art. She also displayed her work at the Always Art co-operative, the Concord Art Association, the Acton Council on Aging, the Scout House, the Littleton First Baptist Church, and the Westford Parish Center for the Arts.
She was a lifelong learner who enjoyed art classes and the warm communities she found at deCordova and the Acton Boxborough Community Education programs. She was also blessed to participate in the crafts and exercise programs offered through the Acton Council on Aging.
She was a passionate member of the Acton Democratic Town Committee, where she was a dedicated phone banker, a reliable post-card writer, and an eager presence at Committee meetings, rallies, protests, and gatherings.
Harriet was a voracious reader of animal and mystery books and frequently read books together with her daughters, especially books by Sy Montgomery.
Harriet grew up in the Jewish faith and was a long-time member of the Littleton First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, volunteered on church committees, served as a Deacon, and contributed to Church community events. She also enjoyed attending services and events at the Congregation Beth El in Sudbury, MA.
Harriet was devoted to her family and is survived by her daughters, Willow DiLuzio of Gloucester, MA, Rose DiLuzio of Sharon, MA, and Heather DiLuzio of Santa Cruz, CA, and her grandchildren, Amber, Jasmine, Madelyn, Evan, and Teagan. She was predeceased by her ex-husband, Anthony W DiLuzio, her brother Donald Golden, and her sister Donna Golden.
Visiting hours will be held at the Acton Funeral Home at 470 Massachusetts Ave,
Acton, MA 01720 on Thursday December 11, 2025, from 3-7 pm and a Celebration of Life service will be held at First Baptist Church Littleton at 461 King St,
Littleton, MA 01460 on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 1 pm with refreshments to follow.
