Peter Farmer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Acton Funeral Home on Nov. 25, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Peter Moran Farmer, 69, of Acton, MA passed away November 23, 2025 surrounded by his wife and daughters at Care Dimensions Hospice House. Born in Syracuse, NY, Pete was the son of the late Thomas Moran and Joan Idella G. Farmer. Pete was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy and Niagara University, earning a BS degree in Marketing.

From an early age, Pete was the consummate people person, quick to transform a stranger to a lifelong friend or acquaintance with his warm smile, firm handshake, and memorable greeting. In fact, when he met his future wife Paulette, unprompted he shared: "I know when your birthday is." And he did.

With a Catholic education and a sense of adventure in hand, Pete laid the foundation for his sales career in Seattle, WA and Burlington, VT. He soon established roots in the Boston area, where the technology movement was alive and thriving. Pete and his wife Paulette first made their home in Newburyport before moving to Acton to raise their daughters.

Pete excelled as an account executive serving the consumer, financial service/insurance, human resources, and technology marketplace for companies such as Honeywell Bull, Software AG & USA, AXA Equitable Insurance, Wolters Kluwer Financial Services, and Hudson Global. Pete received many honors for his principled performance, including numerous Salesperson of the Year recognitions.

Preparation, persistence, and the pursuit of excellence guided Pete at work, at home, and in play. Pete earned his MBA in Business and Economics at the Whittemore School at the University of New Hampshire, and he had a curious and growth mindset, continuously pursuing knowledge for both personal and professional development.

Pete was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. While family was always first and foremost, Pete supported a number of community outreach programs, including Meals on Wheels and Best Buddies.

Pete was an excellent athlete, enjoying tennis, bicycling, running, skiing, and swimming. From his childhood love of Matchbox cars to the real thing as an adult, he took pleasure in the frequent buying and selling of cars. His favorite? Always the next one… Pete also had an eye for design and style, expressing it in his homes and appearance.

Surviving are Pete's beloved wife of 34 years, Paulette; his cherished daughters Elisabeth (Beth) of Cambridge, and Kathryn (Katie) of Acton; his devoted brother and sister, Thomas Farmer (and wife, Marge) and Joan Vermette (and husband, Felix) of Tucson, AZ; and his treasured in-laws, nieces, nephew, grandnephews, and cousins.

A period of visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on December 8, 2025 at the Acton Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at 10:00 AM on December 9, 2025 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church.

Reflecting on the exceptional care that was provided to Pete at the end of his life, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Care Dimensions Hospice House Suite B-102, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
