Anthony “Tony” Ernst, 86, of Wilson, was born June 28, 1939, at Columbus, Ohio, to the late Mr. Anthony B. Ernst and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (King) Thomas. He departed this life November 13, 2025, at Healdton, OK.

Tony's early years were spent in Bradford, Ohio where he completed his high school education, graduating in 1958. His industrious spirit was evident even then, as he worked at a t-shirt factory during his time in school. After graduation, Tony answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy. As a surgical technician during his service, he developed skills and a caring approach that would shape his future career. Upon his honorable discharge, Tony embarked on an educational journey that would see him balance the responsibilities of raising four children as a single father with a commitment to academic achievement. He attended Wright University in Troy, Ohio, where he earned both a bachelor's and a master's degree in psychology. This dedication to education highlighted his strong work ethic and determination to make a positive impact in the lives of others. Tony began his professional career as a Counselor in Dayton, Ohio, before moving to Oklahoma in 1981. In Oklahoma, he was recognized for his exceptional abilities when he was personally selected by Governor Nigh to serve as a counselor at a school for the mentally disabled. Driven by a deep commitment to ensure that all children were protected, unharmed, and treated with dignity and respect, Tony flourished in this role. His dedication to his profession was unmatched, and he practiced as a psychologist for over 50 years. In 1986, he made the Ardmore area his home and established his own business, Ardmore Counseling Association. Through his private practice, Tony continued to provide essential services to the community, always demonstrating a keen understanding of the human experience and an unwavering devotion to those in need. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tony was a man of many talents. He found joy in fishing and had a passion for carpentry, often remodeling homes throughout his life. Tony is remembered as a strong, determined, and courageous individual whose kindness won him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents who raised him, Henry Ernst and Mary (Borchers) Ernst; son, Mark Ernst; step-son, Shawn Price and Kevin “Charley” Price; parents, Anthony B. Mary E Ernst.

Survivors include his wife Ellen “Kay” (Smith) Ernst of the home; sons, Anthony “Tony”, Randy and wife Shannon; daughter, Cheryl; step-daughter, Kathy and husband James; step-son, Chad and husband, Charles; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.
