On Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 11:36 pm at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, LA, Anthony slipped quietly into the arms of his loving Father.
Anthony was born on January 2, 1969 in Donaldsonville, LA at Prevost Memorial Hospital to Roland and Annie Mae Gaines. He was affectionately known to many as "Big Jake".
He was educated in the Ascension Parish School System and graduated from Donaldsonville High School in May 1987. He further his education in the Job Corp in San Marcos, Texas in 1988-1989.
Anthony was baptized on February 14, 2010 at Eaglewright Baptist Church in Gray, Louisiana by Reverend Irving Brown, Jr.
He was united into holy matrimony to Shironica Dorsey on February 21, 2010.
Anthony worked many years as a welder and a truck driver until his health failed him.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife: Shironica Dorsey Gaines; his parents: Roland and Annie Mae Gaines; his brother: Kevin (Shondra) Gaines; his daughter: Breonka Fleming; his step-son: Herbert (Shannon) Plummer, Jr.; his six (5) grandchildren: Kenzie, Kade, Kriston, Kairo, and Kali ; his two (2) aunts: Joyce Gaines and Bobbie (Ronald) Henry; his five (5) uncles: Charles (Marjorie) Gaines, Larry Gaines, Willard (Rosie) Harvey, Larry Harvey and Steve Nicholas; his godmother: Aline Thomas; his four (4) godchildren: Saniyah Prean, Landon Grant, Coztasia Francois and Makayla Munson; his godsister: Leslie Condoll; his cousin: Trudye LeBeouf, who was raised with him as a sister, a devoted friend: LaTreshia Simon and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Anthony was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Neally and Elmira Gaines; his maternal grandparents, James and Castoria Harvey; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nolan and Constance Dorsey; his step-daughter, Constance Plummer; his nephews, Jye Mitchell and Tyree Parker and his godfather, Marshall Thomas.
