Anthony Vincent "Tony" Gimbrone

Anthony Vincent Gimbrone passed away on July 20, 2022 in Cape May, NJ, surrounded by his immediate family. Tony was 80 years old.
Tony was born on February 24, 1942 in Pittsburgh, PA to Antonio and Maria Gimbrone. He graduated from Washington and Jefferson College in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry, going on to become a chemist and inventor. He worked at Kurt Lesker Company as a Division Manager and Operations Manager, and was a Manufacturer's Representative with his own company, GanTech Associates. His discoveries include a gloss ghosting patent which prevented printing ink from ghosting, and a rotating flash cube he once pitched to GE (and they were very interested).
Tony was a man of many interests and hobbies. He loved music and poetry, from the Beats to Janis Joplin, and expressed himself in verse as well as by doodling small birds. As a young man he danced onstage with the Isley Brothers with enough vigor to break one of their instruments. A lifelong gourmand, he enjoyed smuggling his own Chianti into restaurants in a hidden water bottle, and preferred Genoa salami above all others. The prankster in him loved fooling his bird-watching companions with his own bird calls and drag racing unsuspecting neighbors in his minivan at suburban traffic lights. His supreme commitment to being a 'nudge' endeared him to, as well as agitated, everyone he met. Some choice quotations include "Blatt!" and yelling his wife and children's names from across the house.
A devoted husband and father, Tony is survived by Linda Gimbrone, his wife of 54 years; two children Jules Gimbrone and Catherine Gimbrone; his sisters Anna Colatski and Grace Salerno; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Tony was loved and adored by all, and will be deeply missed.
A visitation will take place on Sunday, July 31st from 6 to 8 PM at Beinhauer Funeral Home (2630 West Liberty Avenue, Pgh PA).
The burial will take place on Monday, August 1st. Guests are asked to meet at Beinhauer Funeral Home at 10 AM for a procession to Calvary Cemetery (718 Hazelwood Ave, Pittsburgh, PA), where the service will begin at 11 AM. A memorial picnic will follow at Mt. Lebanon Park. Light food and drinks will be provided.
