Anthony "Tony" Joseph Hale, also known as "Hale," age 66, peacefully transitioned on December 3, 2025. Born in Columbus, Ohio, Tony was the fourth child of the late Nadji Ann Hale and the late Walker Johnson Jr. He was educated in the Columbus Public School System and spent his life deeply rooted in the city that shaped him. Tony was a faithful member of Unity Baptist Church.

Tony shared a devoted married life with his beloved wife, Doshella Gulley Hale. Their union was filled with love, companionship, and cherished memories that remained close to his heart.

For many years, Tony worked as a concrete laborer, a profession that reflected his strength, dedication, and strong work ethic. Tony loved life fully and unapologetically. He lived by his own words, "living life large," always doing what he set out to do to the best of his ability.

Known as "Al Green" in his younger days, Tony was the life of the party, full of laughter, music, and unforgettable energy. He had a deep passion for family and especially loved gathering together to play the famous card game of Bid Whist. Tony was wild and free at heart, always exploring both the land and the city and enjoying every moment along the way.

He shared generously, cared deeply, and touched the lives of many. He especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with love. A passionate football fan, Tony proudly supported The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Tony was preceded in death by his wife Doshella Gulley Hale; his sons Steven Ramsey, Ronald S. Hale, and Anthony Ramsey; his parents Nadji Ann Hale and Walker Johnson Jr.; his maternal grandparents Homer and Nina Hale; his paternal grandparents Nancy Ann Jeter Johnson and Walker Johnson Sr.; his paternal aunts and uncles Harold Johnson, Theodore Johnson, Lenora Johnson, Mary Johnson, and Nancy Johnson; and his siblings Tonya Allen, Tracy Ruff, Joy Hale, Ecoia Johnson, Rufus Hale, and Walker Johnson III.

Tony leaves to cherish his memory his grandchildren Lashawnda Bagley, Anthony Joseph Ramsey, Adan Jemye Ramsey, Remington Nasir Ramsey, Timaree Riley, Suarez Ramsey, and Kilan Ramsey; his great grandson Mi'King Bagley; his brother Ronald Hale; sisters Deborah Edwards, Margaret Ann Johnson, Fredricka Hale, and Fairabee (John) Hale-Cladin; brother-in-law Jack Ruff Sr.; his stepchildren whom he loved and embraced as his own; his living paternal aunts Bessie Johnson Rice and Dorothy Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends, and extended family.

Anthony "Tony" Hale lived boldly, loved deeply, and left an unforgettable imprint on the hearts of many. He will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.
