Anthony L. (Bud) Haswell, 80, of Martins Ferry passed away from a lengthy illness on October 24, 2024, at home with his wife and son caring for him. Bud was born November 13, 1943, in Adena, Ohio. He was the son of the late James and Betty (Donley) Haswell of Shadyside, Ohio.
Retiring from UPS after 34 years, he always said what he loved most about his job was the people he met. Bud was a US Army Reserve veteran. Until unable to do physical labor, he liked cutting the grass and working around his church, Faith Church of Pleasant Grove. He modeled his Christian faith. His sense of humor and the gift of making people laugh, his words of wisdom, stories of his favorite memories, and especially his love for his wife and son, all his family and friends, remained through his final days and hours. His illness never got him down.
Bud enjoyed watching TV with his son Jim, his collections, NASCAR, fishing, hunting arrowheads, Thursday morning breakfast with his buddies, time talking and sharing special moments with his friends Bob, Don, Fred, Bud II, and many others. His phone calls with his cousin Jimmy McBee were uplifting and helped him as they shared together their childhood memories. His phone calls with sister Linda on Monday, sister Cheryl on Tuesday and catching brothers Tim and John whenever! Bud especially loved his role as chauffeur, "driving Ms. Linda."
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his beautiful daughter Debby, sister, Lori, sister-in-law, Cindy, niece Natalie, brother-in-law, Joe, father and mother in-law, Harold and Alberta McKnight.
Left to cherish his memory is the family he loved so very much: his wife of 56 years, Linda, son, James, sisters, Cheryl (Gary) Peterson and Linda Sadowski, brothers, Tim and John, his family in-laws, Wendy and Mike McIntyre, LuAnn McNickle, and Bill McKnight. He especially enjoyed the hospital visits from his nieces and nephews, Andrew, Ranae and Matt and their son Mikey, Jake and Catie, and their children, Elise and Parker, and (Lucky) niece Denise. ALL his many nieces and nephews were a special part of his life and loved deeply.
Arrangements are entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Rd., Bridgeport, Ohio 43912, where friends will be received Monday, October 28, 2024, from 2-4 and 6-8pm, with funeral services on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 11am with Pastor Ken Staley officiating, burial to follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mission Fund in care of Faith Church of Pleasant Grove, P.O. Box 164 Colerain, Ohio 43916.
