Anthony Richard Hendrikse passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice surrounded by his family. He was 88 years old.
Rich was born January 5, 1935 in the town of Holland, the youngest child of Anthony and Delia (Dirkse) Hendrikse. He graduated from Oostburg Christian School, and Oostburg High School in 1953.
On May 10, 1957, he was united in marriage with Jean Neerhof in Cedar Grove.
A carpenter by trade, Rich worked for Oostburg Lumber and Grain for 13 years, Eggebeen Builder, RR&K Buildings for over 20 years, and Dutchland Plastics.
Rich was a member of Oostburg CRC where he served as a deacon. He also was on the board of Oostburg Christian School.
The number one fan of his children and grandchildren, Rich loved attending any of their sporting or music events. He enjoyed golfing, as well as feeding and watching the birds, particularly the hummingbirds. He had an insatiable sweet tooth.
Rich is survived by his wife Jean and their children: Kay (Charles) Meyer of Brown Deer and Kevin (Wendy) Hendrikse of Oostburg; grandchildren: Samantha (Jared) Dagenais, Rebecca (Daniel) Ruiz, Travis Hendrikse and Jonathan Meyer; great-grandchildren Haziel Ruiz and Kyler Dagenais. He is further survived by his sisters-in-law Carolyn Neerhof, Audrey (Harold) Hendrikse and Jean Neerhof, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rich is preceded in death by his infant son Jeffrey Jay Hendrikse, parents Anthony and Delia, parents-in-law Gordon and Ruby Neerhof, siblings: Nelda (Earl) Walvoord, Peter (Annette) Hendrikse, Erwin (Margaret) Hendrikse, Anna (Peter) Koskamp, John (Eunice) Hendrikse and Wilma (James) Droge and brother-in-law Robert Neerhof.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Oostburg CRC, 216 S. 7th St. in Oostburg. The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 9:00-11:00AM. Rich will be laid to rest at Hartman Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Oostburg CRC, Oostburg Christian School, or Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice
