On July 25, 2025 Anthony " Shanky" Warren Johnson Sr. was called home to be with the Lord. He was 71 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents Audrey Copeland Johnson and Joseph Johnson Jr. He was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and confidant. He was a man who knew and loved the Lord fiercely. He was a member of Kingdom Word and Worship Temple, where his pastor was Bishop George Battle. He was employed at Norfolk Banana, U.S. Food Service, and the naval base for many years. He loved being behind the wheel of his 18 wheeler. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears even when they lost (which was a lot). He always made time to be there for his children, grandchildren, siblings, and friends. He never missed a phone call. He also served his country proudly as a United States Marine. Left to carry on his legacy is his wife Tenesia Johnson and his children, son Anthony Johnson Jr., daughters Sade Harris, Sharnell Johnson(Ian Barkley), Aisha Johnson, and Jasmine Johnson(Ashley Johnson). His beautiful grandchildren Anthony "Tre" Johnson III, Brandon Nurse, Ayden Norman, Kayden Nurse, Austen Norman, Alaysia Gregory, and Saniya Johnson .His siblings Avis Brown, Debbie, Linda Johnson-Fardin, Joseph Johnson Jr.,(Nicole Johnson), Joann Johnson, Alan Johnson Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We would like to thank his co-workers, church family, and friends for all of the love and support through this difficult time.
