Anthony Dwayne Lowery was born April 1, 1957 to parents Walter Jackson, Jr., and the late Mary Louise Lowery, in Newark, NJ. He passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025 in East Orange, NJ.
Anthony, also known as "Tony", was raised in Newark, NJ, where he attended West Kinney Elementary School. Later attending Central High School, excelling and lettering in Track and Field. In 1974 he obtained his GED in search of work to support a growing family. In the early Eighties he maintained employment in Downtown Newark as a Salesman for a variety of retail stores.
He found his love for carpentry after completing a carpentry apprenticeship program. He was later employed by Newark's Housing Authority for many years before moving on to working for Seton Hall University's physical plant. Years later he was employed by Irvington's Housing Authority. After being forced into retirement due to health issues he founded Craftsman Unlimited, a construction company where he employed ex co-workers and family members to continue the work he was so fond of.
Tony was known for his unending sense of humor and his keen eye for fashion. He was also a gifted carpenter. Tony spent over 40 years building homes, and creating beautiful custom furniture. He took immense pride in his craft and was a mentor to many young apprentices. Tony's passion for creativity was passed down to each of his children, who also share his gift in various ways.
Anthony was preceded in death by his partner, Kelly Rogers, his former wife, Yvonne, his mother Louise and his furry best friend Sarge.
Anthony leaves to cherish his memory: his father, Walter Jackson, Jr (Jackie); his siblings: Walter Jackson III, Jacqueline Griffin, Laveen Jackson, Kimberly Ray, and Roseann Harris; his beloved children: Anthony Dancy, Antwan Fleming, Darryl Dancy, Terence Fitz, Shakira Johnson Jones (Andrew), Damonique Vickers; step-son Christian Johnson; twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends whom held him dear.
