Anthony Tobias Meely Jr. was born on February 5, 1995, in
Fort Pierce, Florida, and was raised in
Temple Hills, Maryland, by his parents, Anthony T. Meely Sr. and Decreta Hammond Meely.
Anthony was a vibrant soul with a deep passion for video games, singing, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, math). His brilliance was evident from a young age, particularly during his high school years when his love for science and math propelled him to earn a coveted spot in the High School program at aerospace company Lockheed Martin. There, he excelled in designing and competing in State robotics competitions, showcasing his talent and dedication.
Continuing his academic journey, Anthony attended Morgan State University in
Baltimore, Maryland, where he was an active member of the University Gospel Choir and distinguished himself as a part of the Civil Engineer program. Graduating in May 2017, he embarked on a remarkable career path, beginning with a role as a graduate student intern for the US Army Corps of Engineers. His dedication and hard work were soon recognized, and in October of the same year, he was offered a full-time position in
Sacramento, California, marking the start of an exciting chapter in his professional life.
On the early morning of Saturday, March 30, 2024, Anthony was called home by our heavenly father to join the angels above. He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Willie B. Jr. and Donna Hammond, Thomas Sturry, Uncle: Willie "Bud" Hammond III, great-grandparents: Willie B. Sr. and Maggie Hammond, and John Henry and Grace Spivey cousin: Natasha Thurston and pet son Parker.
Left to cherish his memories are his beloved mother: Decreta Hammond Meely (Dr. Michael Grant); father: Anthony (Ebony) Meely; cherished sister: DeJah Meely; half-brothers and sister: Antonio Meely, Demari Meely and Zoey Boone-Meely; grandmother: Addie Meely; aunts: LaTonya (Darryl) Counts, Shatocka Meely, Jeronda Benjamin; special aunt: Gena Spivey (Jerome Benjamin); uncles: Donald Meely, Sr, Edward DeNorris (Deione) Griffin, Sr.; cousins: Caleb Hammond, Darius Counts, KeJa Ryals, Tavarius English, Donald Meely, Jr, Jayden Meely, Edward Denorris Griffin Jr.; special cousins: Takesha Young, Angela Smith, Toni Coley; family friend: Blake Durden. He also leaves behind numerous cherished friends from Maryland, including Armani Holt, Maya Robinson, Jubilee Stanton, Josh Moore, and many others family and friends. Anthony will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his laughter, singing, unwavering kindness, and remarkable achievements that touched the lives of all who knew him.
