Tony Meismer, 45, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, in Peoria, Illinois, the city where he was born and spent his life. Born on February 24, 1980, Tony's journey began and ended in the heart of Illinois, but the impact of his presence reached far beyond.

Tony attended South Side Catholic grade school and graduated from Manual High School in 1998. From a young age, he exhibited a deep appreciation for creativity and the natural world-passions that would shape his adult life and leave lasting impressions on those around him.

In his early adulthood, Tony found joy in writing poetry and capturing moments through photography. He often sought solace and inspiration in nature, hiking through Farmdale Park and Forest Park Nature Center. A lover of sunsets and quiet reflection, Tony embraced the outdoors not just as a backdrop to life but as a vital part of his spirit.

Tony's love for art extended into film and music. He was an enthusiastic moviegoer with a particular fondness for horror films and vampire-themed stories. His musical tastes were as eclectic as they were passionate-ranging from classical compositions and smooth jazz to hard rock and black metal. Music wasn't just something Tony listened to; it was something he lived by. He moved through life to his own rhythm, unafraid to be different or bold.

Known affectionately by many as the life-and animal-of the party, Tony led by example when it came to living authentically. He had an innate ability to make people laugh or smile exactly when they needed it most. Whether offering a helping hand or simply being present during difficult times, Tony's loyalty and compassion never wavered.

Above all else, Tony cherished his family and friends with unwavering devotion. He is survived by his mother Susan; brothers Timothy, Matthew, and Charles (Suzie) Meismer; sister Kristin (Tom) Fahey; nephews George Meismer, Pete Meismer and Thomas Fahey Jr.; nieces Samantha Meismer, Mara Meismer, and Meredith Colwell (Fahey); along with countless friends who were touched by his kindness and humor. He was preceded in death by his father Jerome Meismer.

Tony's legacy is one of fearless love, boundless creativity, and genuine connection. As Henry David Thoreau once wrote: "I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately...and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." And lived Tony did-with courage, laughter, music in his soul, and love in his heart.

O Captain! my Captain-thank you for everything. Until we meet again.

Cremation Rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
