His wife, Corinne Lowry Pati, predeceased him. Later, he had a long-term relationship with his late companion, Debra Pineo. He is the father of Lawrence J. Tilton, of North Providence, Rhode Island, and Armando Pati. He was the brother of Ann Marie Marzilli Maguire (William Viator), also of North Providence, Rhode Island, and uncle of Jessica Ann Maguire (Richard Mathieu) and the late Joseph Maguire, II.
Funeral arrangements are private.
