On October 15, 2025, Anthony Benito Petrongolo passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in South Philadelphia, Anthony graduated from South Philadelphia High School. He served in the US Navy at the end of World War II. After his honorable discharge, he received his Bachelor's Degree from Adelphi University and later received his Doctorate in Education from Rutgers University. He taught High School physics, chemistry and biology in Tappan, NY, Hackettstown, Swedesboro and West Deptford NJ.

Anthony was appointed by the Governor of New Jersey to serve on the Board of Trustees of Rutgers University where he served for eight years. He also served on the Camden County Vocational Board of Education and the Camden County Lakeland Hospital Review Committee. His other activities included coaching high school football, basketball, tennis and also managing a Little League baseball team.

Anthony joined his father, Amedeo Sr., and his brothers in 1964 as the office coordinator of AP Construction Company, Inc. He served as an officer of the Contractor's Association for eight years and as a member of various committees, both local and national. He was a life member of the Board of Directors of the Contractors Association of Eastern Pennsylvania. Anthony was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Parish in Haddon Heights, NJ, as well as the Knights of Columbus, the Men of Malvern and the Sons of Italy.

Anthony was predeceased by his first wife, Josephine A. (nee Sturniolo) as well as his two brothers, Albert (Sue) and Amedeo, Jr. (Anna) Petrongolo. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Rosalyn (nee Lopane); his children, Anthony A. (Edith), Christopher J. (Karen), Mark A. (Joan Marie), Gregory J. (Judith) and Joseph M. (Lisa); his stepchildren, Richard (Cheryl) Elisii and Elizabeth (Michael) Elisii; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; his brothers, Joseph (late Gilda) and Francis (Dolores) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Wednesday, October 22nd from 9:30 - 11:30 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, 4th Avenue and Kings Highway, Haddon Heights where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 AM. Interment following at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
