ANTHONY QUERCIA Obituary

QUERCIA, Anthony Vincent Age 89, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 25, 2025, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Son of Susan (Lepore) and Louis Salvatore Quercia, Sr., Anthony was born on July 23, 1935 in Boston. Anthony grew up in East Boston and Medford and also lived in Winthrop. He graduated with honors from Winthrop High School in 1953. Anthony then attended Boston University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in History, also with honors. He also served for six months in the United States Army. After his marriage in 1960, to the late Elinor Ryan Quercia, Anthony graduated from Suffolk Law School. For many years, he had a thriving law practice at 294 Washington Street in Boston, eventually moving his office to Medford Square. Anthony worked as an attorney, specializing in worker's compensation, from the mid-1960s until his retirement, at age 85. Over the years, Anthony also taught business law and accounting classes at Graham Junior College and the University of Lowell. Anthony and his wife, Elinor, raised their two daughters in Billerica, eventually moving back to Medford, where they had many friends. Anthony's younger brother, Louis S. Quercia, Jr., passed away in 2023. Anthony is survived by his daughter, Valerie Quercia and her partner, Stanley Robak; his daughter, Diana O'Halloran and her husband, Patrick; his sister-in-law, Jane Quercia; and by his partner, Helena Costantino. Anthony was an avid golfer, often playing with his brother, Lou. He had many friends at the American Legion in Medford. He was a lifelong fan of the Red Sox and Celtics and also followed the Patriots and Bruins. Anthony was a self-professed newshound and a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat. He supported many charities, most notably St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He will be greatly missed by many loving family, friends, neighbors and colleagues. Calling Hours are Sunday, March 2, from 3 to 5 pm, at the DeVito Funeral Home, 1145 Mass Ave., ARLINGTON. His Funeral Procession will begin on Monday, March 3, at 9 am, at the funeral home, following at 10 am, by his Funeral Mass at St. Camillus Church, in Arlington. Anthony will be Buried following the Mass, alongside his beloved wife, Elinor, at Oak Grove Cemetery. Please feel free to omit flowers. Donations in Anthony's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
