Anthony P. Salmeri
October 15, 1930 - March 2, 2025
Anthony P. Salmeri, 94, of Dracut, Tewksbury and Boston MA passed peacefully on March 2, 2025. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Annette (Pascarella) Salmeri. Anthony is survived by his devoted children Steven Salmeri of Jackson NH, Lori Salmeri and husband Tim Douglas of Somerville MA, and his beloved grandchild Enzo of Somerville MA. He was the son of the late Clorinda and Letterio Salmeri, and dear brother to Albert and Cathy Salmeri of Malden MA, Leo and Judi Salmeri of Weymouth MA, the late Paul Salmeri and his wife Rose of Weymouth MA, brother-in-law to Alta Salmeri and brother to the late Joseph Salmeri of Randolph MA. He was also a dear brother, brother-in-law, and uncle to many cherished family members.
Tony was born in Boston and proudly grew up in the West End. As a boy he began honing his encyclopedic knowledge of the city, while also spending time working on the family farm outside of town. Along with family, he worked at the pushcarts in Haymarket - and with his dear brother Paul, he had many additional employment endeavors from taking tickets at the movie theatre to helping to shift the floors in the Boston Garden between hockey and basketball games. He was proud of his academic achievements throughout his life, particularly of graduating from Boston University, which he was able to do thanks to his service to his country. He later enjoyed a long career in retail, working for Stop&Shop and Bradlees department stores, where he was entrusted to manage and launch multiple locations and teams over 4 decades. He inspired and lifted his countless employees and is remembered by many of them to this day. Tony adored his large family and group of friends. He founded social clubs and skiing groups so that he could maximize everyone's joy through togetherness and sport. His family doubled in size when he met Annette, the love of his life, whom he never stopped thinking about from the moment he saw her. Her siblings and their families became one with his own, and together they were as loud as they were loving. Throughout his life Tony loved to travel, and seemed to know the entire east coast like the back of his hand. His most cherished adventures were with Annette, sharing 50 years of marriage and a love affair beyond measure. Together they raised their two children in Tewksbury, and later welcomed their son-in-law and treasured grandchild Enzo - "the apple of his eye." Tony was a dedicated golfer, skillful skier, and incredible dance partner to Annette. He was also an avid reader who was also remarkably tech savvy, devouring a constant stream of library books on a digital tablet well into his 90s. He cared for his wife and family throughout his days as a warm and steadfast beacon of love, strength, wit, and wisdom.
To honor his incredible life and the love he shared with so many, memorial visiting hours will be held at Farmer & Dee Funeral Home (16 Lee St., Tewksbury, MA 01876) on Sunday, March 9th from 3-6pm. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 10th at 10am, at St. William's Church (1351 Main St. in Tewksbury), followed by burial in Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to Clear Path For Veterans .

Lori and Steve, we met Tony when we first moved into the Dracut Cascades . He and your Mom were so nice to us. As Tony aged we spent some quality time together. We will always remember his smile, his stubborn side but most of all his laughter and kindness. His death has left a big hole in my heart and we will remember him always. I send hugs, and my thoughts and prayers to both of you and all of your family. Judi and Dennis McRae

To Steven and Lori:
I met your father in 1974 when I was hired to help with the opening of Bradlees in Burlington. The store was still under construction, I was fresh out of the Air Force and was hired on the spot by the operations manager. I worked with your father for a number of years, he supported me in my development to management positions. I learned many life's lessons while under his direction. He also shopped at Stuarts in Tewksbury where I was the manager for many years, he always made time to stop and talk with me while he was there. I also had the pleasure of knowing your mother as well, a lovely woman. I retired from retail after 40 years in the business thanks to your fathers early support and wise advice.
My deepest sympathy on your fathers passing.
