Francis J. Unick, age 81, of Methuen, passed away at Royal Woodmill Nursing Home in Lawrence on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
Born in Boston on July 23, 1944, he was the son of the late Joseph G. Unick and the late Elizabeth P. (Bagdonas) Unick.
Francis was raised on Milford Street in Hanson, MA and graduated from Whitman-Hanson High School in 1962.
Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War as a Sonarman Third Class aboard the only nuclear naval submarine of its time, the U.S.S. Triton.
After his honorable discharge from active duty in 1966, he began his career working in the construction industry and retired as a construction supervisor.
Francis was the brother of Elizabeth J. Costa and her husband Paul, of Londonderry and the late Jerome A. Unick and the late Joseph G. Unick, Jr.
In addition to his sister, survivors include his longtime companion, Carole Ardizzoni, of Methuen: his step-daughter, Jeannine Briley, of Merrimac, MA, and grandchildren, Erin and Ryan Briley.
Family and friends are invited to his graveside service with Naval Funeral Honors and interment of his ashes to be held on Thursday, October 2nd, at 10 a.m. at the Elmwood Cemetery, 130 North Lowell Street, Methuen, MA. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery
