Anthony (Tony) Louis Santangelo, age 67, a lifelong resident of Derby, entered peacefully into rest on October 30, 2023. He was the beloved husband of the late Debra Santangelo.
Tony was born in Derby on April 7, 1956, son of the late Charles and Louise (Rogers) Santangelo. He graduated from Derby High School in 1974, where he played football. If you didn't see Tony on the city bus or walking around town with his construction vest collecting cans, you would find him in a church pew faithfully 7 days a week or participating in events at the local libraries. He was especially close with his nephew Antonio Morel, whom he mentored throughout Boy Scouts, Little League, and school events. Tony will always be remembered as the walking calculator and calendar. We will also remember his love for cooking and celebrating with family.
Tony was a beloved brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his four sisters, Cindy Surina, Charlene Santangelo, Patty Santangelo, Bernadette Santangelo, two brothers, Stephen Santangelo, Tommy Santangelo, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother John Santangelo and sister Karen Santangelo.
Friends are invited to greet the family on Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. for his Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 pm. at St. Mary's Church, 212 Elizabeth Street, Derby. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tony's memory to St. Mary's Church or to a charity of choice.
Online condolences may be left for the family at www.adzimafh.com.
