Anthony C. Virag

Anthony Virag, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024, at the age of 69 in Edison, NJ. Born in Queens, NY, in 1955, Anthony spent most of his life in New Jersey, growing up in Iselin and later residing in Edison.
Anthony graduated from JFK High School in Iselin, NJ, in 1973 and went on to build a successful career as a skilled sheet metal worker. He dedicated decades of hard work to Bonland Industries in Wayne, NJ, retiring in 2013. In his free time, Anthony enjoyed NASCAR racing, cheering for the New York Yankees at games, and laughing along to episodes of The Simpsons. In his retirement, Anthony embraced a love of travel, exploring over 20 countries alongside his cherished wife, Kathleen, and spending precious moments with his grandchildren, Walker and Quinn, who brought him endless joy.
Anthony is predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Adeline Virag. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 38 years, Kathleen Virag, his two children Christopher and his wife Jacqueline, and Michael. Anthony was a proud grandfather to Walker and Quinn, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Dolores Matuszek, and many extended family members and friends who will forever treasure his memory.
A viewing will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024, at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home in Metuchen, NJ, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 30, at 10:30 at Costello-Runyon, with the burial to take place at Hillside Cemetery in Metuchen, NJ.
Anthony lived a wonderful life filled with adventure, laughter, and love. His quick wit and sharp sense of humor were gifts to everyone he met, always bringing a smile to those around him. Whether delivering a clever one-liner or sharing a laugh during family dinners, he had a unique way of brightening every moment. His legacy of joy, humor, and boundless love for his wife, sons, and grandchildren will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
