Anthony J. "Tony" Zuvich, age 90, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 8, 2025.
Born on February 5, 1935, Tony was raised in Philadelphia, PA by his parents, the late Antonio and Catherine (Crusich) Zuvich. Tony was a graduate of North East Catholic High School in Philadelphia. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1955 until 1959. Prior to serving his country, Tony met a special woman who promised to write to him. Tony and Anna kept in touch throughout his years of service and he counted the days until he could marry her, the one and only love of his life. Tony made his career as a supervisor at DuPont Co. for 32 years until his retirement in 1991.
Moving to Delaware in 1972, Tony remained a true Philadelphia sports fan and could often be found cheering on his favorite teams. He especially enjoyed watching the Phillies and Eagles with his sons. Tony savored many years spending time with family at their beach house in Rehoboth. He enjoyed cooking, watching cooking shows on TV, and was very fond of being served a good meal. In his spare time, Tony enjoyed going line dancing and woodworking. Above all, he cherished the memories he made at family gatherings with the people he loved most.
In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 61 years, Anna; dear sister, Esther; beloved brother, Richard; and very special siblings-in-law, Carrie and Clem. He is survived by his children, John Zuvich (Lisa) of New Castle and Andrew Zuvich (Eva) of Newark; 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Brooke (Matt), Ryan, Cady, Cody, and Mia, as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Ella, Wyatt, and Cooper. Tony is also survived by his much-adored sister in-law, Shirley, and many loving nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 pm on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 12 pm. A private committal service will be held on a later date at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
