Antoinette Wakim, 97, of Dracut, MA passed away on November 2, 2025 at Lawrence General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Idlib, Syria to Basil and Zalfa Boutros, and losing her beloved father when she was 9 years old, Antoinette learned to trust the Lord at a young age. Learning from her mother's example, she worked hard and rejoiced in the goodness of the Lord. She lived a prayerful life, and memorized Bible passages and hymns of faith which gave her comfort as she faced difficult times throughout her life.
From a young age, Antoinette was brilliant in math, and was asked to tutor other students while she was still a child. In her young adult years, she moved to Lebanon and graduated from BCW university to become a math and physics teacher. She taught in four different countries including the United States where she taught math for over twenty years at Lawrence High School and at the adult learning center. She was an honorable and impactful teacher throughout her teaching career, until retirement well into her seventies.
Antoinette and her beloved husband, Hanna Wakim of Dracut, MA, shared 67 years of marriage. She was a dedicated wife who cared deeply for her husband. They both found comfort by each other's side, and she will be immensely missed.
She was also a devoted mother and grandmother who was full of wisdom. She will be deeply missed by her 3 children, Raja Wakim and wife Yvonne of Dracut, MA, Amal Boutrus and husband Paul of
Salem, NH, and Mona Hajj and husband Michael of Dracut, MA; her 13 grandchildren, Steven, Christine, Karen, Tracy, Sarah, Amanda, Rachel, Nicholas, John, Andrew, Grace, Joy and Peter; 17 great grandchildren and one on the way; and her nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Moufida Na'man, Adele Nsair and Boulos Boutros.
Antoinette lived a life marked by faithfulness to God, to family, and to all those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her faith characterized her life, and she was strong, loving, and full of wit. She had great love for her family and her love was shown through her desire to provide, to protect and to teach, always praising God, quoting Scripture, and lightheartedly joking as well.
Psalm 23 was one of her favorite Bible passages that she recited often and even into the last day before she passed away, along with the following Scripture passages:
"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know."
"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'"
"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."
Her faith has become sight when she passed into the presence of her savior as promised in her favorite Bible verses above. May this bring comfort to all who knew her.
The burial is private for the family and will be followed by a memorial service at
Salem Bible Church, 11 Ermer Rd,
Salem, NH on Saturday, November 8 at 11:30 AM.
