Antonio Domenico Alvaro, 77, died peacefully on July 31, 2023, in the comfort of his loving family. Born in Locri, Reggio Calabria, Italy, he was the son of the late Vincenzo & Rosina (Riggio) Alvaro.
In addition to his love for his family, Tony thoroughly enjoyed scratching lottery tickets, smoking cigarettes, and sipping coffee. Painting and woodworking were his passions, and he proudly served in the United States Army.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Concettina Nicolosi, and brothers Giuseppe Alvaro, and Aldo Alvaro.
Tony is survived by his wife, Geraldine(Placanica)Alvaro of West Springfield, adoring daughters, Delores Alvaro of East Longmeadow, ElisaMarie Alvaro of Springfield, and Stephanie Slattery & husband Derek of Longmeadow, and will be missed dearly by his prides and joys, his grandchildren, Michael, Nathan, Sadie, Hailey, and the pups.
Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, August 4, 9 a.m. at Tazzini Funeral Home, 22 Locust Street in Springfield. A Prayer Service will begin at 10 a.m., proceeding to Antonios burial, with full military honors, at St. Michaels Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Shriners Hospital for Children in Springfield.
