Patricia A. Adams

Patricia A. (Gibson) Adams, 83, died on April 4, 2025 at Chicopee Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a courageous fight against dementia over the last several years of her life. Born on August 25, 1941 in Springfield to the late Alexander and Jeannette (Gauthier) Gibson, Patricia was one of six children and held her family with high regard over her life. She was always known to march to her own drum and was fiercely independent – often traveling and exploring the country from coast to coast. Throughout life, Patricia remained a woman of strong faith and was a communicant of several Catholic churches in Springfield. She enjoyed a warm cup of tea, watching classic television, and spending quality time with her family and friends. Patricia leaves her two beloved children, John Sheley of Pahrump, Nevada, and Jacquelyn Durkee of Springfield. She also leaves her adored grandchildren, Thomas R. Durkee of Everett, Massachusetts, Kaitlynn M. Durkee of Springfield, and Paul Sheley & Shelly Sheley-Benavides, both of Pahrump, Nevada, and her sister, Margaret "Peggy" Pellerin of Springfield. Patricia also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins who she held close to her heart throughout her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by her brothers, Thomas A. Gibson, Sr., and Raymond W. Gibson, sisters, Edith M. Gibson and Dorothy "Dottie" Levesque, and brother-in-law, Ray Pellerin. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and medical teams at Mason-Wright Assisted Living in Springfield and the Chicopee Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Chicopee for their outstanding care for Patricia over the last several years. The sense of community she found kept her spirits high and allowed her to maintain her dignity and spirit. Patricia's Funeral Mass will be on Monday, June 16th, 9 a.m. at St. Michael's Cathedral, proceeding to her burial at St. Michael's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Patricia Adams.
