MR. ANTONIO "TONY" BURGESS, son of William Alston and the late Eva Burgess Davis, was born on November 25, 1965, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at his home in Littleton, North Carolina.
Tony received his formal education in the Halifax County Public School System. He graduated with the class of 1984 from Northwest Halifax High School in Littleton, North Carolina, where he was also on the basketball team.
During his early life, Tony professed faith in Jesus Christ, was baptized, and became a member of the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina.
Tony enjoyed playing basketball and watching football. He was a "Die-hard fan" of the UNC Tarheels and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Tony was employed as a Machine Operator for Patch Rubber Company in Weldon, North Carolina, until his health began to decline.
In addition to his mother, Tony was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Herbert and Carrie Burgess, who reared him as their own; his paternal grandparents, Jeff and Mary Alston; his step-father, Walter "Shorty" Davis; his brother, Ricky Davis, and his nephew, Cortez Pierce.
Tony's life and the memory of his love will be forever treasured by his wife, Betsey Burgess of the home; his precious daughters, Eboni Wilkins (Cordaran), Ariel Burgess, and Vanessa Bowser all of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his step-children, Ke'shawn Lee of Greensboro, NC, and Ke'yuna Taylor of Wilson, NC; six grandchildren; one loving sister, Tonia Tyrone (Cedric) of Littleton, NC; one aunt, Arlene Barfield of Enfield, NC; one great-aunt, Bessie Harrison (Alvin) of South Ozone park, NY; his mother-in-law, Irene Lee of Gaston, NC; one sister-in-law, Peggy Mills of Roanoke Rapids, NC; two brothers-in-law, Isaiah Lee, Jr. and James Lee (Kiva) of Gaston, NC; two special cousins, Donnell "Big Duck" Burgess (Darlene) of Littleton, NC, and Mack Hawkins of Gilbert, AR; his best friend, Charles Debro of Roanoke Rapids, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will all miss his earthly presence.
A viewing will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025, and the funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home, 215 US Highway 158, Littleton, NC. Rev. Dr. Tommy Arrington will deliver the eulogy, and burial will follow in the St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 6154 Bowers Road, Littleton, NC.
