Antonio Carriero, 83, of Monroe, NC, passed away peacefully at home on May 20, 2022 surrounded by family.
Antonio was born to Angel and Rosa Carriero on June 10, 1938 in Cassano Ionio, Italy. He immigrated to Montevideo, Uruguay when he was 13 years old where he attended a school for business. He went on to later own a local store where a favorite pastime was to get together and play cards with friends after hours. He met and married his beautiful wife Teresita on February 22, 1963 and they had two children, Angelo and Rossana. After retiring, he and Teresita joined a local theater club where Antonio caught the acting bug. He participated in several local plays and enjoyed all the late night get togethers with his fellow actors and friends. Antonio was the life of the party and always had a welcoming smile that would make you feel like instantaneous friends.
Antonio was predeceased in death by his wife Teresita. He is survived by his son Angelo (Allison) Carriero of Monroe, NC, his daughter Rossana (Carl) Carriero-Akers of Jacksonville, FL, his two grandchildren, Aiden and Emi, his sister Maria (Richard) Jurgutis and three nieces and their families, all of Montreal, Canada.
The family would like to thank the Novant Health Hospice for their assistance in the days preceding his death. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Parkinson's Foundation at Parkinson.org or your local Hospice.
A private family celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Holland Funeral Service in Monroe, NC.
