Dr. Archie Neal McIntyre age 90 died on September 2, 2021. He was born to Horace and Kate McIntyre on December 18, 1930 in Oak Grove LA. He grew up there with his father the school principal and his mother a teacher. Neal was whip smart even as a child, no wonder he became a doctor just as he always wanted to be.

Neal went to medical school at LSU, I would be remiss if we were to leave that important fact out. He was a lifelong devoted fan of his beloved Tigers. He met and married Jeri Brown just as he was graduating and they began a life together in Houma, La. Together they built up a general practice serving the people of the area often going down the bayou on house calls and being paid in ducks and puppies. He was a good, kind and generous physician.

Neal and Jeri had one son, Kevin McIntyre who survives them both. The three of them a very close family. Them caring for Kevin as he grew up and then him being their loving helper as they aged. Just as it should be.

Dr. McIntyre later returned to medical school for advanced studies in Radiation Oncology, a brave move for a man with a family. Once he completed studies the McIntyres again worked to build a thriving oncology clinic with a fellow physician and moved to New Orleans. The McIntyres loved their New Orleans life and home, the culture of that city suited them perfectly.

Dr. and Mrs. McIntyre eventually retired and moved to Austin with their son Kevin. It was Hurricane Katrina that finally drove them out but they settled well into Austin and it was grand to have the family all together again. Neal enjoyed life in Austin and discovered that there were indeed also lovely restaurants for fine dining.

Dr. McIntyres wife, Jeri preceded him in death on December 18, 2020. He is survived by his son Kevin McIntyre and daughter in law Victoria McIntyre. Neal was so loved and will be greatly missed and is finally back with his love Jeri.
