Ardalia Hill (Peggy) Burnett was born January 19, 1940, to Thomas A. Hill and Doris M. Hill in Bastrop County and was raised in Austin, Texas from two years old and up. Peggy as she was affectionately called passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
She attended Austin public schools and graduated from L. C. Anderson High School in 1959. She also went to Durham Business School where she received a certificate as a stenographer in Wichita Falls, Texas in 1969. On September 18, 1965, she was united in marriage to Jesse James Burnett, Jr. They were married 51 years. They moved to Wichita Falls, Texas where they both began studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses.
Peggy was baptized in 1971 and her husband in 1972 after he resigned from the Air Force. They both served Jehovah faithfully. After Jesse's departure Peggy's health began to decline, which left her immobile and in constant chronic pain. She maintained her faith firm to Jehovah and served him faithfully all with an appealing personality and a warm pleasant smile. Even an occasional joke or two.
Peggy was preceded in death by her father, mother, one brother, Todd Milligan, a son, Jesse Burnett, IV, two daughters, Cathy Kennard and Tracy Burnett, one grandson, Dauvion King and her loving husband, Jesse Burnett, Jr.
Peggy leaves to cherish her memory, four children. Debra Cyphers (Don), Morris Kennard (Rebecca), Tisha White, and Emmanuel Burnett (Angela). A grandson she raised, LaQuincy Kennard. Grandchildren, Branston, Christopher, Kelley, Ananetia, Aisha, Jordan, Travonte', Dion, Jayson, EJ, Alexus, Alize', A'kayla, Evan, Vanice, Kameo, Mesha, Desmond, Serena and Mitchell Jr. Great Grands, Nathaniel, Kimora, Amaiyza, Jayden, Serenity, Alyssa, Tasha, Claudia, Haven, Trace, Tahira, Halle, Tanya, Avah, Onyx, Vera, JayCeon, Passion, Amari, Empress, Malachite, TJ, Prince, Loyal, Jeremih, Jaden, Razmus, Melonie and Alayah. As well as a host of cousins and a family of spiritual brothers and sisters.
For those who would like to know where the nickname Peggy came from. It originated from a cousin of mine named Peggy. She was a young happy person. Everyone said I looked so much like her that I could be her daughter. We became "Big" Peggy and "Little" Peggy. So, from 2 years old on I became known as Peggy. In 2019 four extended family members came to live with us and during that time my daughter Tisha and Granddaughter Alize' were assisting in my care. They also stepped in and took the lead along with other family members to care for the girls. Many of our faithful brothers and sisters came to our aid as well in every way. There was a special family who took us under their wings and are still present with us. I want to Thank everyone from my heart for their presence. May Jehovah Bless all your efforts., Peggy.
